RNA-Seq Concepts, Designs & Workflows

Date: 09/22/2021
Time: 11:00 am PDT - 1:00 pm PDT

This free two hour workshop will be a coding-free overview of RNA sequence analysis with a focus on differential expression. We’ll discuss experimental design and sample preparation and explore analysis workflows. By the end of this workshop you will know the fundamentals of designing a differential expression experiment, have a conceptual understanding of the process of RNA-Seq analysis, and understand common RNA-Seq problems and how to prevent them.

This workshop will be conducted remotely via Zoom. The workshop Zoom link will be emailed to participants after registration closes.

Participants should plan to fill out a brief survey before and after the workshop.

Instructors

Amanda Charbonneau (UC Davis/Common Fund Data Ecosystem)

Prerequisites

You do not need to know RNA-Seq to attend, however you will get the most out of this workshop if you have at least a baccalaureate understanding of basic genetics concepts such as DNA, RNA, and expression and have a passing familiarity of sequencing technologies (“I’ve heard of Illumnia” is more than enough).

Who is offering this?

This workshop is a pilot workshop offered by the Lab for Data Intensive Biology as part of the NIH Common Fund Data Ecosystem training and engagement program.
